Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of Muerte.casa, including the public site, account features, paid Resident access, The Dead Internet Dispatch, polls, suggestions, and related services.

By using Muerte.casa, creating an account, making a payment, or participating in the casa, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

For purposes of these Terms, "Muerte.casa," "we," "us," and "our" refer to Hidden Prairie, the operator of Muerte.casa.

1. What Muerte.casa is

Muerte.casa is an art project and platform about automation, culture, and the gradual normalization of machine-authored reality. The site may include commentary, satire, generated writing, editorial experiments, automated systems, human edits, cultural analysis, fictionalized framing, and other creative or journalistic material.

Muerte.casa is not a professional advice service. Content on the site is provided for informational, artistic, cultural, and editorial purposes only. Do not rely on it as legal, financial, medical, safety, investment, or other professional advice.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Muerte.casa. To make payments, subscribe, or become a Resident, you must be at least 18 years old or the age of legal majority where you live, or have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

By using the site, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. Accounts and authentication

Some features require an account. You may sign in using an email magic link or supported third-party authentication, such as Google.

You are responsible for keeping your email account and authentication methods secure. You are responsible for activity under your account unless the activity results from our failure to use reasonable security measures.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, create security risk, abuse the site, interfere with other users, or create legal or operational risk.

4. Resident access and support payments

Paid supporters become Residents of the casa. Resident access may include some or all of the following:

  • The Dead Internet Dispatch.
  • Editorial polls.
  • Topic coverage or site feature suggestions.
  • Behind-the-scenes notes from the human-in-charge.
  • Access to Resident-only casa pages or features.
  • Other membership features we may add, change, or remove.

Payments of $3 or more activate at least one month of casa access. Payments of $30 or more activate one year of casa access. Smaller pay-what-you-can contributions support the project but do not activate membership.

We may change Resident benefits, pricing, access periods, or membership structure in the future. Changes will not intentionally remove access you have already paid for during an active access period, except where necessary for security, legal compliance, discontinued features, site shutdown, or violation of these Terms.

5. One-time payments

One-time payments are charged once. If the amount qualifies for Resident access, your access period begins when the payment is confirmed and runs for the applicable period.

One-time pay-what-you-can contributions below the membership threshold are treated as support contributions and do not activate Resident access.

6. Recurring subscriptions

If you choose a recurring monthly or annual subscription, Stripe will process recurring charges at the interval shown at checkout until the subscription is canceled, fails, or is otherwise terminated.

You authorize recurring charges for the selected subscription. You are responsible for reviewing the renewal amount, billing interval, and checkout terms before completing payment.

If you purchase a recurring subscription online, you can cancel it online through your profile page or any billing-management link we provide. You may also contact us at support@muerte.casa if you need help. Cancellation will stop future recurring charges after the cancellation is processed. Unless otherwise required by law or expressly stated, cancellation does not refund prior charges, and Resident access may continue until the end of the paid period.

7. Refunds

Except where required by law, support payments, one-time contributions, and membership payments are non-refundable.

If you believe you were charged in error, charged after cancellation, or affected by a duplicate or fraudulent charge, contact us promptly at support@muerte.casa. We may review refund requests case by case.

8. Polls, suggestions, and Resident participation

Residents may be able to submit poll rankings, suggestions, rankings of suggestions, comments, or other input. This material is "User Content."

You retain any rights you have in your User Content. By submitting User Content, you grant Muerte.casa a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, copy, display, publish, excerpt, adapt, summarize, aggregate, analyze, and create derivative works from that User Content as needed to operate, improve, promote, archive, and editorially shape Muerte.casa and related outputs.

Poll results, aggregate signals, and editorial outcomes may be public. Suggestions may influence coverage, topics, editorial direction, machine-generated prompts, human notes, or other content. Submissions are not confidential.

Do not submit material you do not have the right to submit. Do not submit unlawful, defamatory, invasive, harassing, infringing, malicious, or abusive material.

9. Generated and editorial content

Muerte.casa may use automated systems, machine-authored text, editorial pipelines, human review, and other creative processes. Content may contain errors, omissions, hallucinations, outdated information, stylized framing, satire, or fictionalized presentation.

We do not guarantee that content is accurate, complete, current, neutral, uninterrupted, or suitable for any particular purpose. We may edit, remove, revise, archive, generate, regenerate, or replace content at any time.

10. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • Use the site for unlawful, abusive, deceptive, or harmful activity.
  • Attempt to compromise, scan, overload, scrape, reverse engineer, or interfere with the site or its infrastructure.
  • Circumvent paywalls, access controls, authentication, membership restrictions, or rate limits.
  • Use bots, crawlers, or automated systems in a way that burdens the site or extracts content without permission.
  • Upload or submit malware, spam, or harmful code.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent affiliation.
  • Violate intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights.
  • Use Muerte.casa content or systems to train, fine-tune, evaluate, or populate AI or machine-learning systems without written permission, except where allowed by law.
  • Use the site in a way that could expose us, users, or providers to legal, security, operational, or reputational risk.

11. Intellectual property

Muerte.casa, including its design, branding, editorial framing, generated and human-authored content, code, images, layouts, names, marks, and other materials, is owned by us or our licensors unless otherwise stated.

You may read and share links to public pages for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, sell, modify, exploit, scrape, or redistribute substantial portions of the site without written permission, except where allowed by law.

All third-party marks, sources, names, and references belong to their respective owners.

12. Copyright complaints

If you believe material on Muerte.casa infringes your copyright, contact us at support@muerte.casa with enough information for us to identify the material, understand the claim, and contact you. We may remove or restrict access to allegedly infringing material and may terminate accounts or access for repeat infringers where appropriate.

13. Third-party services

Muerte.casa may use or link to third-party services, including Stripe, Supabase, Google, Postmark, hosting providers, and other infrastructure or content sources. Third-party services are governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, outages, billing systems, authentication systems, privacy practices, or content.

14. Account deletion

You may delete your account through the profile page if that feature is available. Deletion is intended to delete your login, profile, message preferences, and Resident membership records from our database. Some records may be anonymized or retained where necessary for poll integrity, aggregate results, legal compliance, accounting, security, dispute resolution, or provider-side retention.

Deletion cannot be reversed.

15. Changes to the site

We may change, suspend, discontinue, limit, or remove any part of Muerte.casa at any time. We may also impose limits on features or restrict access if necessary for security, operational stability, legal compliance, abuse prevention, or editorial reasons.

We do not guarantee that the site, any Resident feature, any newsletter, any poll, or any generated process will remain available indefinitely.

16. Disclaimers

Muerte.casa is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, security, and uninterrupted operation.

We do not guarantee that the site will be error-free, secure, current, available, or free from harmful components.

17. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Muerte.casa and its operator, contributors, contractors, service providers, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, service interruption, content errors, payment-provider issues, or unauthorized access.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the site or these Terms will not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid to Muerte.casa in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

18. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Muerte.casa, its operator, contributors, contractors, service providers, and affiliates from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your use of the site, your User Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights.

19. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Muerte.casa if you violate these Terms, create risk for the site or other users, misuse payment or authentication systems, or create legal or operational risk.

Upon termination, provisions that by their nature should survive will survive, including intellectual property, User Content licenses, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law.

20. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You and Muerte.casa agree that disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, unless applicable law requires another forum.

21. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and may provide notice through the site, account page, or email. Continued use of Muerte.casa after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
